CONFIRMED: Its Mahira Khan opposite of SRK in Raees

Initially, a trend started by Pakistani singer turned actor Ali Zafar seems to have picked up momentum gradually with his co-actors Fawad Afzal Khan, Imran Abbas Naqvi and Humaima Malick who followed the suit of acting in Bollywood films. And now there has been a new name added to the list and it is none other than Mahira Khan who is all set to star in the upcoming film Raees

Mahira Khan gained fame in India after her Pakistani series 'Humsafar' with Fawad Afzal Khan became an instant hit on Zindagi, an Indian channel featuring only Pakistani content. Though Mahira Khan has done a film (Bol, 2011) and a couple of series in Pakistan, Raees will mark the dream debut of the actress in Bollywood alongside superstar Shah Rukh Khan. The film will have Shah Rukh Khan playing the role of a mafia leader and will also star Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who will portray the role of a hard headed cop in this thriller drama.

Mahira, who had recently visited India for the promotions of her series 'Humsafar', had expressed her wish to act in Bollywood films. And now we hear that Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani of Excel Entertainment were the first to approach Mahira for the lead role in the Rahul Dholakia directorialRaees. We also hear that Shah Rukh Khan has already met the actress during the audition.

Born and brought up in Karachi, Mahira Khan completed her education from Los Angeles and later began her career as a VJ for Pakistani television. She is married to her childhood sweetheart Ali Askari and has a son named Azlaan.
